Hy-Lok tubing fittings are available in a variety of materials and a wide range of wall thicknesses. However, with Hy-Lok tubing fittings, carefully designing, selecting and handling tubing is vital for a reliable, leak-free installation. General rules are listed below. 1. The material of the tube must match the process fluid. 2. When selecting wall thickness, you should consider the conditions of temperature, pressure, vibration and shock. In addition, too thick walls may not get proper strain, and too thin walls may cause damage due to ferrule movement. 3. Metal tubing must be softer than the material of the fittings. If the tube and fittings are the same material, the tube must be sufficiently annealed 4. Tubing surface finish must be smooth and there are no welding lines, scratches or marks on the surface for leak-free installation. 5. Tubing with large outer diameter tolerances may not fit fittings or not function properly. 6. Best performance when the end of the tube is cut right angle and properly burr removed. Recommended tube specifications are listed below for optimal performance using Hy-Lok tubing fittings. Stainless Steel Tube: Fully baked, seamless, Type 304, 316 (ASTMA269 compliant or equivalent), Rockwell hardness less than Rb80. Copper Tubing: Seamless Soft Annealed (tempering O60), Max Hardness 60 (ASTMB75 compliant or equivalent), or Seamless Water Tube, Type K or Type L, Annealed (tempering O06), Coiled up to 50, or Hardened (tempering O50), Straight type with a maximum hardness of 55 (ASTMB88 or equivalent). Monel tube: Fully baked, seamless, alloy 400 (ASTMB165 compliant or equivalent), maximum hardness Rb75. 【Gas Supply】 The gas molecules are extremely small, so the microscopic paths caused by surface defects. These defects can be prevented by using a thick walled tube that is more resistant to ferrule movements than a thin walled tube
