  • ๐ŸŒน While terms like Own-Root and Heirloom have strict definitions for rosarians, we apply them more broadly to describe our roses. We select these varieties because they are exceptionally tough. Our roses are resilient and easy to grow, with a natural ability to resist most common problems. This means you can enjoy beautiful, healthy blooms with minimal effort and fewer chemicals.
  • ๐Ÿ‘‘ Prom Queen is a Found Rose of unknown origin discovered on a home site abandoned in the 1930s. It is a tough, resilient, perpetual blooming, moderately thorny, well-behaved climber, producing heavy clusters of fragrant, medium-sized, loose, double blooms. Flowers begin as soft blush-pink buds reminiscent of a vintage prom corsage. Plants develop large, strong central trunks and can be grown on a support or as a large sprawling free form bush.
  • ๐Ÿค— Care: When mature, plant in a full-sun location with fertile, well-draining soil. Water deeply, allowing the soil to dry between waterings to prevent over-saturation. Fertilize with a slow-release formula at planting, then each Spring and early Fall. Prune to shape after blooms fade. Monitor for issues, but regular preventative spraying is not needed.
  • ๐Ÿ  Indoor Growing: Roses are not well-suited for long-term indoor growth. Keep your starter plant in a very bright, sunny indoor location until the weather is suitable for transplanting outdoors.
  • ๐ŸŒกClimate: Prom Queen Climbing Rose is recommended for USDA Growing Zones 7, 8, 9. Plant early in the growing season, and mulch roots heavily well ahead of the first freeze. Avoid late Fall and Winter pruning of Spring blooming roses.
