What is Smartlipo?
During Smartlipo — or laser-assisted lipolysis — Dr. Ohanian uses local anesthesia to numb the treatment area. She makes a tiny incision to fit a minuscule tube underneath the skin. A laser fiber inside the tube delivers laser energy directly to the fat cells, which are liquefied and permanently removed from the area with suction. Simultaneously, the heat from the laser tightens the surrounding tissues, giving you firmer and smoother results than surgical liposuction.
What is Tumescent Liposuction?
Tumescent liposuction is liposuction performed on swollen and solid subcutaneous fat under local anesthetic.
This procedure involves the injection of subcutaneous fat with a large volume of water containing very dilute anesthetic and a drug that constricts capillaries. The injected fluid then swells up the treatment area and firms up the fat.
